The Zanies: An Introduction to Physical Comedy

This class will introduce students to the basics of an “outside-in” approach to acting with a focus on comedy, drawing from the principles and techniques of Commedia dell’Arte and related forms of clowning. Exercises are designed to build an awareness of the body, create an ensemble, and give students a toolkit for building character through physicality. By the end of class, students will have a foundational understanding of how to make strong physical choices to convey character and story onstage.
